How to setup a DSTT cartrage to run DS Homebrew apps.

August 1st, 2008

The DSTT card is one of the cheapest carts that will allow you to run homebrew applications on a Nintendo DS. It will also allow you to run backups so you don’t have to wear out your original Nintendo DS cartridges and all sorts of independantly made applications that can turn your Nintendo DS into a organizer, web browser and even a phone!!! I will try to explain the few steps you need to take to get your DSTT cart running.

First off you will need your Nintendo DS, DSTT cart, a micro SD card and the microSD card reader that comes with the DSTT cart. (above)

Next you will put the Micro SD into the micro SD card reader like so. Then plug it into your computer and wait until it recognizes the device. Sometimes windows wants to install a USB driver. This is OK, just let it auto install and hit next, next, next.

Next we will need to put some software on the micro SD so the DS knows what to do. Open the internet and go to ndstt.com, you can then click the download tab at the top.

Good. Now scroll to the bottom of the page select English and download the zip file onto your computer. Most computers with XP can open zip files by double clicking them. If you cannot open the file you might need to download an unzipping program. (I will be starting an article about the importance of file compression and why it is essential for everyone to understand how to recognize and use it… please say tuned to my site for this article)

Now place the contents of the zip file in the root of the micro SD card take the UBS adapter out of the computer place the micro SD in the DSTT cart and you are DONE!

Now you have the ability to run any applications with the extension nds. Just copy any .nds file program into the directory of the SD carda nd you should be able to paly it.

Well that’s all folks!
