Sprung: Can the Nintendo DS get you the ladies?
by Chris Photinopoulos

Ubisoft is putting DS players to the test in the game where everybody scores! It’s hard to believe that North America doesn’t have a big market for dating simulators. Can you imagine a legion of DS gamers slowly but surely sharpening their skills in the art of seduction? Every controller move, every button press making them smoother, slicker and cooler? Well it’s true!!! Ubisoft was bold enough to bring us “Sprung” which is a game where you try to get with the ladies or men depending on the gender you choose at the start of the game.
It’s well built and looks good. The cartoon characters that you try to score with at attractive and have strong personalities. The humor is witty and the game play is quite fun. I really do love when developers take a chance and bring us a game that is unique to the market. Sprung was fun while it lasted but it has extremely difficult moments. I sometimes wonder if the guys over at Ubisoft did this just to send us DS gamers some realistic expectations about dating. Either way it’s more fun than a rubber band shot to the neck.
Lesson one … just because you see long dark hair in a dimly lit bar doesn’t mean that it’s a girl.
Lesson two… bros before gardening tools.
Lesson three… If your best friend is super hot, you should ask him or her out.
Score: 6.5/10
