First Impressions of “Bully: Scholarship Edition” (Wii)
Since my DS was in the repair shop this week I decided to take a look at a Wii game that I have been meaning to play for some time. I started playing “Bully” by “Rock Star Games” for those of you that are unfamiliar with Rock Star Games; they are the same developers who make the “Grand Theft Auto” games. So as you might expect Bully is almost rated mature, scoring a rare age rank of 16. What I did not realize is that the game is based of the same game engine as Grand Theft Auto so even for new players it might seem like familiar ground.
Tho I am only a few hours into the game, I do find it very entertaining and much less gruesome as its linage. No stealing cars or shooting cops, you cannot kill random people or purchase services from prostitutes either. Instead you play the role of a student in the roughest school in the state. You attend school like a normal student would. The option of going to class or skipping is yours. If you choose to attend class you will gain new skills like building fire crackers to terrorize other students. You can fight any of the kids you see but you will have to avoid the teachers and school monitors.
The school is a good size but no where close to the cities in GTA. I have been following the missions and just checking out a few classes. So far I really enjoy Bully. It is a diet cola version of GTA, smaller and less violent. For me that is a good thing!
