Star Wars: The Force Unleashed

October 19th, 2008

Well here is one of the most hyped up Star Wars games I’ve seen in a long time. I’ve been seeing adds all over he internet and on T.V. I have to admit that it peeked my interest and I was just as excited as the next Star Wars fan to try this  out.

My first impressions of “The Force unleashed” were very good. The controls on the Wii are very entertaing. The nun chuck controls most of your force abilities in a neat way. When you push the nun chuck your character on screen does a force push. When you swing the Wiimote you will swing your light saber. So add these controls to jumping around killing droids, storm troopers and Jedi’s to get some very addictive and entertaining game play.

So what is bad you ask? Well nothing really bad with the controls and game play. However I do have two major problems with this game. It’s 8 hours long and that includes all the cut scenes. I am pretty sure I can rack it in 4 hours if I skipped the videos and went B line for the end. That is a huge problem for people paying 40-50 bucks in my opinion so before I go on I just want say that this one is for RENTALS!!!

The other problem I have is that Star Wars in general has been annoying me lately. These writers really have to stop putting in random scenes and scenarios just because they want to run though all the classic clichés and races of the Star Wars world. I honestly don’t give rats ass about the senate and the republic and I don’t care if I’m fighting 100% all human Jedi or one Jedi of every single race in the Star Wars world so long as I have a good reason to kill one Jedi of every Race. It’s more important for me to identify with the characters in the games and movies and for the story to take me to the next mission. I would like to have reasons for going to the next mission and I would really love to see Star Wars stop the recycling of its bread and butter of the past. Lucas needs to move on and bring forth someing fresh and entertaining. Vader and the senate are watered down!!!

Sadly the story here is lazy and is a bad attempt to create what is suppose to be a memorable experience. Honestly I did not care for the main character, Vader, the co-stars or anything about the story at all. I just found it neat to use force powers and slash stuff till it was over.

Rating: 5/10

Note: The game is still fun and the game play is very good. My score is based off the lame story and very short game. Worth the Rent but save your money and do not buy this game.
